Perast the special Baroque-style place. We mention it on the Kotor information page, but it is such a special Baroque-style place, that it deserves its page! It is worth a visit just to experience the peace, and sit by the water with a coffee. A very special place, with Venice-like architecture which includes Baroque palaces and churches, all set in stone. Micahel Douglas and Catherine Zeta-Jones have recently bought a house here – praise indeed!
The most beautiful buildings in Perast were built in the 17th and 18th centuries. At that time seafaring was the thing, and captains built magnificent villas overlooking the bay.
Visit the Church of Saint Nicola (Sveti Nikola) built between the 15th and 17th centuries, and the Parish church built in 1740. Look out into the bay and you will see a small island, where the church Saint George (Sveti Djordje) from the 12th century is located. Interestingly, the island is artificial and man-made!
Perast is for sure, one of the most attractive destinations in the Bay. A lovely little old town, worth a visit.
