Our Adventures on Luštica Peninsula and Luštica Bay

A Day on Lustica Peninsula Montenegro and Luštica Bay: Our Personal Story

One of the best things about staying in our Adriatic sea-view home is how easy it is to explore Lustica Peninsula Montenegro. So many incredible places are within an hour of our doorstep, making every day an opportunity for a new adventure. One of our absolute favourites is the brand-new Luštica Bay development. Every time we visit, we fall a little more in love with this beautiful corner of Montenegro.

Morning Walks and Scenic Views

We usually start the day with a coffee on our terrace, taking in uninterrupted views of the Adriatic. The villa itself is such a peaceful spot — the private pool, sea-view terraces, and carefully chosen furnishings make it the perfect place to relax before heading out to explore.

Discovering Luštica Bay

Luštica Bay is just a short drive away, and it never fails to impress. The marina is bustling but not overwhelming, with sleek yachts bobbing in the water and cafés and restaurants lining the promenade. We love wandering along the waterfront, stopping for a glass of wine, and watching the world drift by. It’s modern and stylish, yet still feels like a genuine part of the Adriatic coast.

Hidden Gems Around Lustica Peninsula Montenegro

Beyond the marina, Lustica Peninsula Montenegro is a treasure trove of small coves, pine forests, and quiet beaches. On our last visit, we wandered down to a tiny secluded cove and simply sat watching the waves. There’s something magical about the way the sunlight dances across the water — exactly what you imagine when you dream of the Adriatic.

If you enjoy exploring Montenegro’s coastline, you may also enjoy our visit to Queen’s Beach, one of our favourite beaches in the country.

Lunch in a Fishing Village

After a morning of exploring, we love heading into one of the nearby fishing villages. Fresh seafood, a glass of homemade white wine, and views across the bay — it’s simple, authentic, and utterly unforgettable. Moments like these are why we keep coming back.

Another favourite day trip from our villa is the beautiful town of Perast, with its waterfront restaurants, historic churches, and spectacular views across the Bay of Kotor.

Sunset Back at the Villa

When we return home, the villa greets us with those same spectacular Adriatic views. With space for eight guests, four bedrooms, three bathrooms, air conditioning, Wi-Fi, and a fully equipped living, dining, and kitchen area, it’s perfect for relaxing after a day of adventures.

Sitting by the pool or watching the sunset from the terrace never gets old — it’s our favourite way to end the day.

Why We Love Lustica Peninsula Montenegro

Lustica Peninsula Montenegro offers the perfect mix of adventure, relaxation, and charm. Whether you’re strolling through a new marina, discovering hidden coves, or simply enjoying the view from a terrace, there’s something here for everyone.

And for us, it will always feel like coming home.

If you’re planning your own Adriatic escape, take a look at our luxury Montenegro villa, perfectly positioned for exploring Luštica Peninsula, Luštica Bay, Perast, Kotor, and Montenegro’s stunning coastline.

“Can you guess which Montenegrin Cathedral we visited today?”

St Tryphon Cathedral Kotor in Montenegro's historic Old Town

A Day at St Tryphon Cathedral Kotor: Our Montenegro Experience

We’ve always loved exploring Montenegro, and this week we wandered through the charming streets of Kotor Old Town before visiting one of the country’s most treasured landmarks — St Tryphon Cathedral Kotor.

Built in 1166, the cathedral has witnessed centuries of history. Walking through its doors, it’s easy to feel the weight of time and the beauty of Montenegro’s cultural heritage.

Getting Lost in Kotor Old Town

Before reaching the cathedral, we spent time exploring Kotor’s narrow cobbled streets and hidden squares. The town has a wonderful rhythm — every corner reveals something new, from quaint cafés to historic buildings.

The backdrop of the mountains and the sparkling Bay of Kotor makes the stroll even more magical. It’s no wonder this UNESCO World Heritage destination is one of Montenegro’s most visited places.

Inside St Tryphon Cathedral Kotor

Stepping inside felt like travelling back in time. The cathedral’s Byzantine-style frescoes and historic artefacts are breathtaking.

We especially loved the museum inside St Tryphon Cathedral Kotor, which houses some of Montenegro’s most valuable religious treasures. It’s the sort of place where you can easily spend far longer than planned, discovering stories from centuries gone by.

Whether you’re interested in history, architecture, or simply soaking up Montenegro’s heritage, St Tryphon Cathedral Kotor is well worth a visit.

Lunch by the Bay

After exploring the cathedral, we headed down to the waterfront for lunch. Fresh seafood and a glass of local white wine, paired with views across the bay, made for one of the most memorable afternoons.

Watching boats drift across the water while surrounded by centuries of history is one of those simple experiences that makes Kotor so special.

If you love exploring Montenegro, you might also enjoy our adventures on Luštica Peninsula and Luštica Bay or spending a sunny afternoon at Queen’s Beach.

Back at Our Villa

Once the day of sightseeing was over, we returned to our villa. It’s less than an hour from Kotor, making it the perfect base for exploring Montenegro’s coastline.

Sitting by the pool or relaxing on the terrace while watching the Adriatic sunset is our favourite way to end the day.

The villa comfortably sleeps eight guests and features four bedrooms, three bathrooms, air conditioning, Wi-Fi, a fully equipped kitchen, dining and living areas, and terraces with panoramic sea views.

Why We Keep Returning to Kotor

Every trip to Kotor reminds us why we love Montenegro. The mix of history, culture, incredible scenery, and coastal charm is difficult to beat.

St Tryphon Cathedral Kotor may have been the highlight of our day, but the old town, the waterfront, and the atmosphere made the entire experience unforgettable.

If you’re visiting Montenegro, we highly recommend adding St Tryphon Cathedral Kotor to your itinerary. It remains one of the most fascinating places we’ve explored in the Bay of Kotor.

Žanjice Beach – A Perfect Day on Luštica Peninsula

Žanjice Beach on Luštica Peninsula with crystal-clear Adriatic waters

Žanjice Beach – A Perfect Day on Luštica Peninsula

One of the many things we love about staying at Lustica House is that some of Montenegro’s most beautiful beaches are right on our doorstep. One of our favourite day trips is actually only a three-minute drive away – Žanjice Beach.

Nestled alongside neighbouring Mirišta Bay, Žanjice is one of those places that instantly reminds you why Montenegro’s coastline is so special. The water here is a remarkable shade of azure blue, so clear that you can often see straight to the seabed.

Crystal-Clear Water and Great Snorkelling

If you’re planning a visit, don’t forget your mask and snorkel. The crystal-clear Adriatic waters make this one of our favourite spots for swimming and exploring beneath the surface.

The beach itself is made up of large pebbles rather than sand, so beach shoes are definitely worth bringing along. Once you’re settled in, though, it’s hard to imagine a better place to spend a summer afternoon.

If you enjoy discovering hidden corners of the peninsula, you may also enjoy reading about our adventures on Luštica Peninsula, exploring Luštica Bay, or visiting the beautiful Queen’s Beach.

Lunch at Porto Adriatic

After a morning in the water, we almost always find ourselves heading to Porto Adriatic for lunch.

There are several cafés and restaurants along the beach, but this has become our favourite. Fresh fish is always a highlight, although the pizzas, pasta and steaks are equally tempting. What we particularly like is their commitment to local produce, with much of what they serve sourced or produced nearby.

It feels refreshingly authentic, and the quality of the food speaks for itself.

Alex, the head waiter, is always happy to stop for a chat and makes every visit feel like you’re returning to an old friend.

The Friendliest Butterfly in Montenegro

One of the unexpected highlights of our last visit wasn’t the food or even the scenery—it was a butterfly.

While enjoying a post-lunch coffee, a friendly butterfly decided to join us for a while, happily landing nearby and posing for photographs. It’s one of those small moments that probably sounds insignificant, but somehow perfectly captured the relaxed atmosphere of the day.

Sometimes it’s the little things you remember most.

Back Home to Lustica House

After a lazy afternoon by the sea, it was time to head home. Fortunately, the journey is a short one.

Lustica House sits above the fishing villages of Mirišta and Žanjice, enjoying uninterrupted views across the Adriatic. Whether we’re returning from the beach, a long lunch or an afternoon exploring, it’s always a pleasure pulling back into the driveway.

With accommodation for up to eight guests, four comfortable bedrooms, three bathrooms, a private swimming pool, air conditioning, Wi-Fi and terraces overlooking the coastline, it’s the perfect base for exploring this beautiful part of Montenegro.

If you’re looking for another fantastic lunch spot nearby, take a look at our visit to Ribarsko Selo, one of our favourite seafood restaurants on the peninsula.

One of Our Favourite Beach Days

Žanjice Beach may only be a few minutes from home, but it never loses its appeal.

Every visit reminds us why we chose Luštica Peninsula as our home in Montenegro. Whether we’re swimming in the crystal-clear Adriatic, enjoying lunch by the sea or simply watching the boats drift across the bay, Žanjice Beach is somewhere we never tire of returning to. It’s a place we always recommend to family, friends and guests staying at Lustica House.

Best fish restaurant on Lustica Peninsula

Fresh seafood lunch overlooking the Adriatic Sea at Ribarsko Selo on Luštica Peninsula

A Long Lunch at Our Favourite Fish Restaurant on Luštica Peninsula

One of the things we enjoy most about life on Luštica Peninsula is discovering places that make you want to linger a little longer. This week, that place was Ribarsko Selo in Žanjice, a restaurant that has become one of our favourite spots for a long, leisurely lunch.

Perched on its own small headland, the restaurant enjoys spectacular views across the Adriatic towards the island of Lastavica and, on a clear day, the southernmost coastline of Croatia. It’s the sort of setting where time seems to slow down the moment you arrive.

Fresh Seafood and Adriatic Views

What makes Ribarsko Selo so special is its commitment to local produce. Fresh fish arrives daily from local fishing boats, many of the vegetables are grown on-site, and even the olive oil is produced by the restaurant itself.

We settled in for what turned into a very long lunch, enjoying beautifully prepared seafood, a good bottle of wine, and the kind of attentive service that makes you feel genuinely welcome. A special thank you to Alexander, who looked after us so well throughout the afternoon.

The combination of exceptional food, sea views, and relaxed Mediterranean atmosphere makes it one of the standout dining experiences on the peninsula.

A Swim Before Heading Home

After lunch, there was no rush to leave. We spent some time relaxing on the restaurant’s sun loungers before taking a refreshing swim in the crystal-clear Adriatic.

It’s moments like these that remind us why we love Montenegro so much. Great food, beautiful scenery, and the simple pleasure of spending an afternoon by the sea.

If you’re exploring the area, you might also enjoy our adventures on Luštica Peninsula and Luštica Bay, where we share some of our other favourite spots around this beautiful corner of Montenegro.

Back to Lustica House

After our swim, we made the short journey home to Lustica House, perched above the fishing villages of Mirišta and Žanjice. It’s only a three-minute drive from the restaurant, although we’ve also walked it a few times when feeling energetic.

Back at the villa, we spent the evening on the terrace enjoying uninterrupted views across the Adriatic. Watching the sun begin to dip towards the horizon is the perfect way to round off a day like this.

With accommodation for up to eight guests, a private swimming pool, four comfortable bedrooms, three bathrooms, air conditioning, Wi-Fi, and terraces overlooking the coastline, it’s a wonderful base from which to explore the peninsula.

If you’re looking for another memorable day out, take a look at our visit to Queen’s Beach, one of our favourite beaches in Montenegro.

One of Our Favourite Places on the Peninsula

There are plenty of excellent restaurants in Montenegro, but Ribarsko Selo is one we find ourselves returning to again and again.

Perhaps it’s the setting, perhaps it’s the seafood, or perhaps it’s simply the relaxed atmosphere. Whatever the reason, it’s a place we always recommend to friends and guests visiting Luštica Peninsula.

If you’d like to learn more about the restaurant or make a reservation, visit the official Ribarsko Selo website.
